Bosch: a new look at transmission technologies
- Electric vehicles will play a key role in the future
- The internal combustion engine will remain an important part of the hybrid cars
- New Powertrain Solutions division will have 88,000 employees
- Bosch leads development in all promising areas
By Bosch estimates, by 2025 the number of issued hybrid and electric vehicles will reach 20 million. Production of electric vehicles in the future will be crucial, therefore, Bosch is now busy creating a working group dedicated exclusively to this direction. The group will be incorporated into the new unit gear Powertrain Solutions solutions. Since the beginning of 2018 in the area of division of responsibility will include projects related to the development of electric vehicles, as well as the problem of the existing units of petrol and diesel systems (Gasoline Systems and Diesel Systems). As a result of all changes Bosch customers will work in the field of transmission technology with a single entity.
Simultaneously with the development of electric vehicles the company intends to work intensively on the further improvement of internal combustion engines, because in addition to 20 million new hybrids and electric vehicles on the world's roads in 2025 will be about 85 million vehicles on gasoline and diesel fuel.
Leading market positions enable Bosch's active role in the formation of concepts for the transformation of vehicles. Powertrain Solutions Division will offer an extensive portfolio of technologies to increase the efficiency of transport, making it more economical and environmentally friendly to the world.
Major investment in innovative transmission technology
Each year, Bosch spends several billion euros for the further improvement of transmissions and powertrains. Only the development of electric vehicles the company will invest 400 million euros per year. Most of this amount invested in research and development of batteries. Bosch is the world's only supplier of traditional automotive components, leader of research on promising energy storage technologies.
