Eight Bosch inventions in the field wipers of car

In the anniversary year - 90 years since the invention of electric drive for the wiper blades - Bosch is reminiscent of its eight most important innovations in this field.

1. First electrically controllable Bosch wiper was developed in 1926. It provided only the purity of the glass on the driver's side. The innovation is not only made driving easier , but also greatly enhance its security, because the wipers become driven by a switch, without distracting the driver from the driving process. In 1927, the brushes with electromotive was patented and put into mass production.

2. At the end of the 50s of the twentieth century to improve the aerodynamic properties of the car body, including his windshield, have been acquired more streamlined. Brush same up to this point was a flat strip of rubber with a lever attached in the middle. In connection with this there was a problem with the effectiveness of its use of a new, curved glass. Timely solution developed by Bosch began in 1958 with a wireframe brush with hinges popular to this day.

3. The further development of automotive construction and increase in the average car speed demanded improvements and in wiper design. In 1986, Bosch has developed a brush with a spoiler, through which the incoming air stream better presses the wiper  and minimizes the risk of detachment from the glass.

4.In 1994, Bosch introduced the Twin technology: two rubber mixtures are used for the production of the cleaning element. The basis of the cleaning element is made of soft synthetic rubber to ensure a smooth and silent sliding. Rubbing edge of the cleaning element is made of a hard synthetic rubber, which significantly reduces its wear.

5. The end of the twentieth century was marked by a wide variety of car models, at the same time every year there are more variations in the amount of fixtures. Now, the inventors have directed their attention to the development of unified anchoring structures (adapters). In 1999, Bosch introduced market the universal mount Quick-Clip for a variety of modifications of the hook fastening, which are popular to this day and are used for factory assembly of vehicles.

6. In the new century Bosch entered with a new invention -  frameless wiper brushes Aerotwin (2001). Their distinguishing feature is the uniform distribution of the arm pressure along the entire length of the brush. Exactly   due to the lack of clamping frame with dots, in which elastic wears out faster, Aerotwin serves considerably longer. T In the brush uses two steel spring elements, which are given  optimized under the  windshield bend and an integrated spoiler improves aerodynamics. This innovation Bosch has improved properties and attractive design, therefore in great demand among car manufacturers for original equipment of new cars.

7. 7-8. 2013 was the most fruitful for the development for the Bosch wiper blades: the company introduced just two inventions - Jet Wiper system and Power Protection Plus technology. Bosch Jet Wiper is a built-in  wiper arm nozzle and "smart" fluid delivery control system. The nozzles spray the liquid onto the windscreen directly in front of the wiper blade, which evenly distributes it further on the glass. At the same time the vehicle speed does not affect the final result of the Jet Wiper.

In the same year, Bosch patented Power Protection Plus - a new technology for producing a cleaning element of wipers with increased wear resistance and extended service life. A special section of the cleaning edges and the new composition of the two-component synthetic rubber allow with the one motion  remove the smallest dirt particles and water drops, preventing drips and streaks. Wipers Aerotwin with PPP technology commercially are available from 2015.

Today, Bosch is one of the leaders in the production of wiper by offering brushes for all brands of cars and  by meeting any needs of car owners. The main plants for the production of brushes are located in China (Changsha), Serbia (Pechintsi city) and Belgium (Tienen). The latter is the main center of production and of all innovations in the area of  wipers from 1973. Bosch brushes are supplied on the conveyor more than 30 leading automotive brands. Every year the world produces more than 100 million Bosch wipers.
