In Yekaterinburg, the sale of fake Osram car lamps has been suppressed

The raid in the capital of the Ural region was another event initiated by Osram as part of a program to counter counterfeit

During a police raid on the Kirovsky wholesale market in Yekaterinburg in December, the owner of a retail outlet selling fake autolamps under the Osram brand was detained. A consignment of counterfeit imported from China was seized and destroyed by law enforcement agencies; an administrative violation case was initiated against the seller.

The raid in the capital of the Urals region was another event initiated as part of the Osram anti-counterfeiting program. Last year alone, the sale of counterfeit automotive lamps was suppressed on the markets in Moscow Kuntsevo and the South Port, Yalyan in Almaty and Neokor in Krasnodar and several others, a total of over ten thousand forgeries were confiscated. In addition, at the end of 2017, a large underground workshop in St. Petersburg was liquidated, where counterfeit lamps of leading brands were manufactured in millions of lots.

“Osram is well known as a trustworthy brand with a wide range of premium products. This attracts the attention of unscrupulous manufacturers and sellers who flood the market with fake copies, ”comments Osram marketing manager Anastasia Prokipchuk. - Our task is to help end customers not to become victims of intruders. In cooperation with specialized agencies providing services in the field of protection of intellectual rights, we conduct our own investigations, organize test purchases and provide active assistance to local law enforcement agencies in the fight against illegal production and sale of counterfeit products. Often the reason for such actions are customers' appeals and "signals" of our business partners, which we carefully study. Consumers can always send a request directly to Osram (e-mail ru_support@osram.com) if they suspect the authenticity of the purchased product. ”

The situation with counterfeit is not only about the commercial losses of the manufacturer - the owner of the brand. The use of fake car lamps is a threat to consumers, because the quality and performance of the original and a copy is a huge difference. Fake lamps do not provide the proper quality of light and do not meet high international safety standards. They can damage the headlights, damage the vehicle’s electrical equipment and cause an emergency on the road. In addition, the counterfeit product does not give any guarantee regarding the service life, while the original Osram lamp, manufactured using the most modern technologies, will fully pay for its cost for the car owner.

Osram’s anti-counterfeiting policy includes a range of activities. The company monitors sales outlets in Russia and the CIS, conducts information campaigns, issues instructions to help determine the authenticity of Osram products, and applies special technologies to protect its products - identification codes and holograms on the packaging, laser marking on the lamp base, etc. For xenon Lamps developed a separate program Osram Trust to check the original using an online service or mobile application.

Osram recommends that market participants take a more serious approach to the choice of suppliers and, in order to avoid problems with the law, purchase products only from official distributors, information about which is available on the manufacturer's official website.
